Vitality Blog

Vitality is an open-world game where you are a wizard, casting spells based on combinations of elements and states of matter. I restarted Vitality in November of 2025 because it didn't match my artistic vision for the game. I've been working hard on it recently, and a lot of progress has been made in the past few months. I'm almost caught up to where I was before the restart, if not further than I was. My blogs below are documenting the game's development.

Vitality Blog #1

Initial blog post, March 31, 2025

So far, I've been working on the new version of Vitality for about 4 months, and it is progressing really well! In terms of the most important parts of Vitality, it comes down to mainly the towns and the dungeons, so I've been keeping track of how much is done on each of them! Vitality is split into 5 areas with most areas having 1 town, except the cliffs area not having any (it's sort of a final evil area), and the swamp having 2.

  • Plains Town: Done
  • Mountains Town: All houses done (needs general store, town hall and quests)
  • Forest Town: All houses done (needs general store, town hall and quests)
  • Swamp South Town: All houses done (needs boathouse, town hall and quests)
  • Swamp North Town: All houses done (needs farmhouse, town hall and quests)
  • Plains Dungeon: Nearly done (Just needs final cutscene and polish)
  • Mountain Dungeon: Partway done (All floors modeled, Floor 1, B1 and B2 done)
  • Forest Dungeon: Partway done (All floors modeled. Floor 1 and 2 done)
  • Swamp Dungeon: Not started

I don't have a consistent dev schedule of when I'm working on one thing as opposed to another, but the towns and the dungeons are what I'm spending a majority of my time doing. I've also got a bunch of systems mostly made. The spell system is made, although not all spells are made. The quest system is made, although you can't navigate the UI. The shop system's made, but you can't activate the shop system by yourself and I need to set a variable to make shops enabled. A lot of systems are like that where I've got a bunch of progress on things but it's not fully done. I'll start finishing things and some point, but like, progress is progress no matter what!
